Chad Wanzek
Chad Wanzek uses performance, video and digital prints to explore identity, as both self given and culturally given, and to witness the human condition through various mundane personal interactions. His films and performances have shown nationally to critical acclaim.
He proclaims himself North Dakota's Number One Performance Artist; no one has yet challenged him on the claim. Chad received his B.A. in painting from Minnesota State University Moorhead, and his M.F.A. from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. He currently lives in Philadelphia.

An allegory of the current financial meltdown, Chad Wanzek presents his new durational work Potato Eater. Existing on the bare minimum to survive, Chad will inhabit the Soapbox Gallery’s window space for five complete days, both day and night. During this time he will not only be quitting smoking, but also sugar, coffee, entertainment, and mobile communications. He will be alone with his thoughts, his only interactions those he receives from passer-bys on Dean Street and from us, his audience.
