Anna Marie Shogren
Anna Marie Shogren is a native Minneapolitan come Brooklyn based dancer/ choreographer/ performance artist/ costume designer. Her choreography has been seen in Minneapolis at The Walker Art Center, Southern Theater, Red Eye Theater, Bryant Lake Bowl Theater, Old Arizona Theater; in Brooklyn, at the Starr Space Project, Dixon Place, and has been presented by Aunts, Catch!, as part of the Movement Research Festival, FIGMENT on Governors Island, and by the Numu Arts Collective. She has performed with choreographers Morgan Thorson, Karen Sherman, Justin Jones, Laurie Van Wieren, Chris Schlichting, Matthew Janczewski, Katie Rose McLaughlin, Christine Elmo, and others. Shogren studied at the University of Minnesota where she received a BFA in dance and a minor in art, graduating in 2005. She was voted the 2008 City Pages (Mpls) Dancer of the Year and is a two time Sage Award (Mpls) nominee. Her design work includes costuming for choreographers Morgan Thorson, Benjamin Rasmussen, and herself. She is recently returned from a residency and fellowship at the Nes Artist Residency in Skagastrond, Iceland and is currently working on a new evening length work to be presented at the Southern theater in Minneapolis in June 2011.
